This a Limited Edition, full-size (7") replica edition of the Visconti Sforza Tarot originally created in the 15th century. This is an exquisite printing produced on a substantial card stock. Meneghello went the extra step of using a 5 color process. Instead of building the gold background from the conventional 4-color process, they used a specially mixed gold ink on a separate plate. While it cannot approach the gold leaf applique of the original cards it is still makes for a beautiful rendition that has more of the feel of the original paintings.
For both of the Meneghello editions, the art for the four missing cards (Devil, Tower, Knight of Coins, and Three of Swords) was created by Giovanni Scarsato, who has paid attention to the cosmological framework of the symbols in a way that some of the other replacement artists working for other publishers have not. Semi-gloss finish.
