The 8-bit Tarot was started as an homage to the video games the artist grew up with, imagining the Rider-Waite tarot as if it were designed by a video game graphics artist. The characters on the cards are rounded and cartoony, the colors bright, the art fully pixellated, and the images drawn directly using the Rider-Waite as a guide.

From original art created in pencil, ink and tempera from 1981 to 1983 by Italian artist Maria Teresa Monti, (1957-1991). A limited edition of 88 copies curated by Giordano Berti and presented in a gorgeous Rinascimento package from the three hundred total decks printed by the Museo dei Tarocchi, Riola, Italy in 2008. The original paintings are well represented by the large almost 3 1/2" x 6" cards. A reworking of the Marseilles iconography, but with more dynamic characters on the trumps and court cards that practically jump out of the black background in a stylistic mix of Art Nouveau and Naive Art. Originally created in collaboration with Giordano Berti to be used in a book he had planned to publish in the 1980's. Pips are numerical suit symbols in the Italian configuration of Swords, Batons, Coins, and Cups, but also ornamented with vines of ivy that integrate the French suit symbols of Spades, Clubs, Diamonds, and Hearts. Complete 78 cards with informational leaflet; a numbered title card with the limited edition deck, and an inset card with the number of the hand-made, limited edition package. Numbers will vary with unopened decks. The hand-made Rinascimento box is a beautiful 2-part telescoping configuration showing the Empress on the cover inset with a gold metallic frame.
